Guichet.lu is contributing to the development of a European automated translation platform

The Government IT Centre (CTIE) announces that it has made the Guichet.lu translation memories available to the European Language Resource Coordination network (ELRC network). This network, which is an initiative of the European Commission, aims to address one of the main challenges in creating a true digital single market in Europe, namely to reduce as much as possible the language barriers that public services, ministries and citizens face every day.

Guichet.lu's translation memories with more than 4,000,000 French words translated into German and English will be feed into the European automated translation platform.

The CTIE is convinced of the importance of multilingualism as a factor of integration and made early efforts to make available the contents of Guichet.lu in several languages. Hence, the German version of its "Citizens" section on Guichet.lu was launched in 2011. In November 2017, the English version of the same section completed the trilingual offer of Guichet.lu, which has since then been fully accessible in French, German and English. Since the end of 2019, a plain language version in German has been offering a simplified access to certain information on Guichet.lu. This offer will be further developed in the coming months.

The CTIE's collaboration with the European Commission in the field of translation is part of the Luxembourg government's desire to offer multilingual and cross-border public online services and actively participate in the construction of a true digital single market.
